Nuestros artistas en la Bienal Internacional de Arte de Antioquia y Medellín

The International Biennial of Art of Medellín and Antioquia (BIAM) opened its doors on October 2, positioning itself as a platform that seeks to activate dialogues between art, memory, and territory through different curatorial lines that traverse both the history and the present of art in Colombia.

Several of our artists are participating in this edition. Within the Historical Line is master artist Adolfo Bernal, whose pioneering practice in conceptual and visual experimentation is fundamental to understanding the transformations of Colombian art over recent decades. In the Masters’ Tribute section, the Biennial honors the career of Beatriz González, an indispensable reference in the history of Latin American art.

The Central Line includes works by Leyla Cárdenas, Luz Lizarazo, and Luis Roldán. In this context, Artefact for Weaving an Unraveling, an installation by Leyla Cárdenas, unfolds in the former Coltabaco building through semi-transparent fabrics that have been sublimated and partially unraveled, configuring a spatial system in which fibers, landscapes, and industrial images converge in a loop of time and memory. Luz Lizarazo, for her part, presents The Mouth of the Spirit, a contemporary altar constructed from blown glass, ceramic, sacks, and sand, functioning as a space for contemplation and symbolic resistance in the face of utility and speed. The work of Luis Roldán, also part of this line, continues to expand the boundaries of painting and abstraction through the exploration of materials and structures.

Through this collective participation, BIAM becomes a key stage for celebrating the richness and diversity of Colombian art, where tradition and contemporaneity intertwine to generate new constellations of meaning. The Biennial will take place across various venues in Medellín and Antioquia from October 2 to November 25, 2025.
