Galería Casas Riegner announces the representation of Linda Pongutá

We are very pleased to announce the representation of artist Linda Pongutá, whose practice investigates and reinterprets the political conditions shaping Colombia. Her work addresses issues such as state corruption, the exploitation of rainforest territories, and social inequality, constructing a critical dialogue between nature, technology, and politics.

Trained in Visual Arts at Universidad Jorge Tadeo Lozano and holding a Master’s degree in Plastic and Visual Arts from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Pongutá reaffirms her Muisca heritage to explore the industrial system, extracting from it elements that symbolize the deterioration of nature.

Her work is characterized by a search for connections between Indigenous medicinal plants and industrial materials—petroleum derivatives, industrial metals, and cement—which she halts, deforms, and subverts. Through this process, objects undergo transfigurations in which what is above collapses and what lies on the ground emerges, creating a space where the germinal and the ancestral converge in installations and sculptures that reflect processes of mourning, resistance, and transformation.

Among her recognitions are the Incubator Supercut 2023/24 prize from Artlink, Switzerland, and the Apexart Open Call in New York (2023), with the exhibition Null alongside curator William Contreras. She has also received grants from Colombia’s Ministry of Culture, including national artist residencies and funding for completed works and solo exhibitions.

Her works are part of important collections such as the Jorge Pérez Collection (Miami, USA) and the Banco de la República Collection (Colombia). She has participated in significant exhibitions including the 44th and 45th Salón Nacional de Artistas, Artecámara at ARTBO, and most recently in the group exhibition A boca de incendio (susurro y delirio) at Espacio Continuo gallery (2024).

Welcome, Linda!
