Beatriz González: Voces de la memoria

“Since the mid-1980s, the artist Beatriz González (Bucaramanga, 1932) has addressed themes related to Colombia’s armed conflict and historical memory through drawing, painting, printmaking, and sculpture.

The main sources of her work have been images and photographs from news reports published in the national press. In this way, González’s work allows viewers to encounter and reflect upon some of the violent events perpetrated in the country’s recent history.

Today, the Museo de Memoria de Colombia presents a digital curatorship of five works by the artist, in which the relationship between art and armed conflict is approached in an interpretive and reflective manner. In this exhibition, the artist’s voice will guide visitors through various historical contexts and events of violence in Colombia, as well as through her own work.”
