Mateo López: Barrio Obrero (Performance), Galería Casas Riegner
Como acontecimiento paralelo a la exposición colectiva “Música”, Casas Riegner invita a “Barrio Obrero”, un performance a cargo del artista Mateo López.
“Barrio Obrero” es una taberna itinerante inspirada en el barrio del mismo nombre en la ciudad de Cali, que se instalará en la galería los días sábado 9 de marzo, entre las 4 y las 7 p.m., y el jueves 21, entre las 8 p.m. y la media noche.
La acción combina animación, baile, y un DJ set de música tropical y africana de la colección personal de vinilos del artista. El evento es el ensayo de un proyecto de performance que explora la conexión entre África y Latinoamérica a través de la región del Pacífico. Viaje, desplazamiento, apropiación y transformación, son los leitmotiv del proyecto.
As part of its latest group exhibition Música, Casas Riegner extends an invitation to “Barrio Obrero”, a performance by artist Mateo López.
“Barrio Obrero” is an itinerant tavern that takes its inspiration from the neighborhood by the same name located in the city of Cali. The performance will take place in the gallery on Saturday, March 9th , between 4 and 7 p.m., and again on Thursday, March 21st, between 8 p.m. and midnight.
The action combines animation, dance, and a DJ set of tropical and African music from the artist’s personal collection of vinyl records. Both events act as the rehearsal of a performance project that seeks to explore the connection between Africa and Latin-America throughout the Pacific region. Travel, shifting, appropriation and transformation are the leitmotivs of the project.
